Two Ohio residents were killed in a car crash in Litchfield Township on April 19. The accident took place just before 10 p.m., according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The term whiplash refers to a neck injury where the head moves in one direction and then another quickly and sometimes violently. This is similar to the motion of a whip. Basically, this motion can rip the ligaments that protect and support the vertebrae running through the neck. It can also strain the muscles and tendons in the neck. In more severe instances, the event could even herniate, dislocate or fracture vertebrae.
Many times, the effects of being involved in a car accident can go beyond physical injuries and accumulating medical expenses. A strong emotional response to an auto accident is normal. In some cases, however, post-traumatic stress may develop, causing additional complications that can limit or stall the victim's full recovery.
On Jan. 6, one person was killed and three others were injured in a car accident in Wayne County. The accident happened around 5:25 p.m.
Law enforcement authorities reported that a pickup truck allegedly caused a major accident that resulted in the death of a 27-year-old woman and injured several firefighters on the Ohio Turnpike on Nov. 5. According to police, the Canfield Fire Department was responding to an earlier accident and traffic was stopped. The 27-year-old woman was stopped behind the fire truck in her Nissan SUV.
A married couple from North Vernon, Indiana, was killed when their minivan was involved in a three-vehicle crash in Warren County. The accident occurred in the early afternoon of July 22 at the intersection of Township Line Road and Ohio 73. Two other individuals were injured in the crash, which closed the roadway for several hours.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reports that a 56-year-old man and a 29-year-old man have both died as a result of a crash near Monroe Township. Authorities are continuing to investigate the causes of the car accident and it remains unknown whether some form of chemical impairment may have played a factor. The incident is said to have occurred along U.S. Route 52 as it approached Altman Road around 3 in the afternoon on Jan. 2.
Ohio State Troopers suspect alcohol was involved in a two-vehicle accident that left two people dead in Ohio. According to troopers, the accident was the result of a 26-year-old driver who failed to stop at a stop sign. In addition to the two fatalities, two other people were reportedly injured in the crash. None of the occupants of either of the two vehicles had been wearing seat belts.
An elderly woman was injured in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 just south of Monroe on Oct. 11. The accident resulted in the northbound side of the highway being shut down for about an hour and a half. According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, it does not appear that drug or alcohol use was a factor in the collision. Everyone involved in the car accident had been wearing a seat belt.
An Ohio truck accident resulted in the death of two individuals and other injuries. The fatal accident involved seven vehicles.
