Distracted driving accidents injure thousands of people each day

A driver has to place all his or her attention on driving. When a driver takes his or her attention off of the duties of driving, the repercussions are considerable. In some cases, a distracted driver can cause an accident that injured others on the roadway. These crashes can easily to fatalities if the accident is serious enough.

There are a variety of distractions that can affect drivers. Something as seemingly harmless as changing the radio station, answering a phone call or checking a text can distract a driver long enough to cause an accident. Eating, applying makeup, shaving and interacting with other people in the vehicle can lead to distracted driving accidents.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention notes that 1,153 people are injured in distracted driving accidents each day. Additionally, nine people are killed in distracted driving accidents each day. Those statistics are harrowing. Just the thought of that many families being affected because of a driver who thinks that a text message or some other action just can’t wait until he or she stops driving is something that should make drivers think twice about driving while distracted.

People who are injured in distracted drivers often have to seek medical care for their injuries. That medical care isn’t free. Instead, the victims have to pay for care. The bills from that medical care can have a negative impact on their financial situation.

Some victims of distracted driving might opt to seek compensation for their injuries. Learning about the necessary steps, building the case and moving through the process can help these victims as they move forward with their claim.
