2 dead in Ohio crash

A married couple from North Vernon, Indiana, was killed when their minivan was involved in a three-vehicle crash in Warren County. The accident occurred in the early afternoon of July 22 at the intersection of Township Line Road and Ohio 73. Two other individuals were injured in the crash, which closed the roadway for several hours.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a red car driven by a Leesburg woman failed to halt at a stop sign and struck a flatbed truck, which crossed the roadway's dividing line and crashed into a minivan. The driver of the car suffered serious injuries and was flown to a hospital in Dayton. The truck driver, who was also injured, was transported to a local hospital, where he is expected to recover.

A spokesman for the OSHP said that the crash had been captured on video by a camera atop a nearby house. The police were reviewing the video as part of their investigation and did not indicate whether any charges would be filed.

In a fatal car accident such as this, investigators may examine every aspect of the crash to determine the cause and whether any of the drivers involved were drunk, distracted or otherwise negligent. Depending on the evidence, they may bring charges against one or more of the drivers involved.

Regardless of whether charges are filed, people who have been injured in a car accident and the families of those who have been killed may opt to seek a personal injury lawsuit. A lawyer can review the evidence to see if there is a reasonable basis for a case. If so, the attorney could represent these individuals to help them obtain compensation for damages such as medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
