Genetic disorder might be confused with autism

Ohio residents may be surprised to learn that a little-known genetic disorder that is almost as common as Down syndrome could be misdiagnosed as autism although recent studies show that the disorder's symptoms have little in common with autism spectrum disorder. The genetic disorder is called 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, or 22q, because children with the syndrome are born without a section of chromosome 22.

Primarily black nursing homes receive lower standard of care

A research study reveals that the care provided at nursing homes with primarily black residents was worse compared to the care provided at homes with smaller minority resident populations. Over 11,000 nursing homes across the United States, including Ohio, were included in the study. The study consisted of over 46,000 nursing home residents and analyzed data from 1999 to 2004.

Columbus man confesses to fatal accident on YouTube

An Ohio man is allegedly trying to help curb drunk driving with a 3.5-minute YouTube video where he confesses to killing a Columbus man while driving under the influence. The video, recorded on Sept. 3, 2013, has been viewed better than 1.2 million times so far. His attorneys are downplaying any idea that he may be hoping that the video could result in a lighter sentence, saying that he steadfastly desires to accept responsibility for the accident.
